Chamber
and the City Work Together to End Homeless in Long Beach
Your Help Is Needed. Comment on the Draft Recommendations to End
Homelessness
Every day in Long
Beach, nearly 5,000 adults and children are homeless and
hundreds more are on the verge of homelessness. The “10-Year
Plan to End Homelessness” is part of a national movement to
expand promising practices to end, not manage, homelessness.
Since September 2005, over 300 community members, including
local business owners, concerned citizens, faith based
organizations, service providers, and local government have
worked diligently to develop Draft Recommendations.
The Draft
Recommendations are separated
into five core goals:
1) Housing;
2) Economic Stability;
3) Supportive Services;
4) Community Involvement;
5) Outcomes & Evaluation.
Your input is critical. In order to
create a 10-Year Plan that is reflective of all Long Beach
residents’ perspectives we ask that you review and rate the
Draft Recommendations.
Instructions
For each goal, rate each objective according to the impact to
the community. “Impact” refers to the objective’s ability to
prevent at-risk persons from becoming homeless or helping
individuals/families exit homelessness. Consider also what you
believe the community will support. It is imperative that you
vote, to the best of your knowledge, on each of the items. If
you do not feel comfortable voting, give the item a 2.5 to
reduce distortion of the overall score.
Please rate according to the
following scale:
1 = Least Impact
2 = Minimal Impact
3 = Moderate Impact
4 = Significant Impact
5 = Greatest Impact
Rating Process
Rate each objective for the five goals listed above. Throughout
the rating process, please add any notes, comments, and
suggestions regarding (1) any gaps in the objectives? (2)
anything that should be removed from the objectives? (3)
anything that should be modified in the objectives?
All comments and suggestions will
be compiled and reviewed by the Steering Committee and Working
Group for the final recommendations to be presented to the Mayor
and City Council.
